last year i got a new Cavapoo [cavalier king charles poodle]. I already had 2 dogs for 5 years before…A Lhasa Apso and a Shitz Tzu Maltese mix….i didn;t think there would be any problems but there were…it took about 2 weeks for my old pups to get used to [and not jealous] about the new one
labs are generally friendly with other dogs unless trained to be hostile. i used to have a lab and he was fine with any other dog that we puppy-sat.
you could try puppy-sitting a friend’s dog when they go on vacation and see how your dog reacts; if he reacts well then getting another dog will probably go over well with him.
as long as you don’t pay more attention to the new dog, i don’t see any reason for the lab to have jealousy issues.
ofcourse he will be jealous but he will get used to the other dog if he is a male buy a female so he dosent feel over powered.. if you have a female buy a male.just pay attention to both of them.. dont let one of the sleep inside and the other not.

my first dog loved the second one. Your dog sounds like that type. Still give it attention
