try to maintain your routine with your resident dog as much as possible. it will not be easy since you are also trying to train and acclimate your new puppy to a routine as well. if possible, crate or confine the puppy for short periods of time when you can devote 100% of your attention to your older dog. be sure to train the resident dog using positive reinforcement. when you introduce the puppy to the resident dog, do it gradually and in short periods of time. neutral territory would have been best for an initial introduction, but you can still take them both to a neutral area (e.g. park or green space) and see how they interact there. see links for additional info on dog introductions, canine rivalry, etc. Some of this will not apply now but may become relevant later. good luck.
